BOSTON, MA, July 17, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Cadac Organice, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and developer of Organice, a SharePoint based engineering document management solution, has implemented Organice at Sound Transit, enabling them to manage the documents of their Light Rail projects.
Sound Transit is a regional transit authority and was created by the state legislature to build a mass transit system connecting major regional job and housing centers in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, around Seattle, Bellevue, Everett and Tacoma. The regional system includes regional express buses, commuter rail and light rail. Service has expanded through the years, and today Sound Transit carries nearly 14 million rides a year.
To manage all the documents from their light rail projects, Sound Transit was already using an internal document management system and FTP for external file transfer. This system supported their internal users in document availability and accessibility. However, working with a lot of external project partners like consultants and contractors, Sound Transit was in need for a web based document management solution that could support them in sharing and exchanging their documents with their external partners.
Living in the home land of Microsoft, Sound Transit adopted Microsoft SharePoint as a collaboration platform and Organice to manage, share and exchange the documents of their Light Rail projects, including their AutoCAD drawings.
