/24-7PressRelease/ - NEW DELHI, INDIA, April 06, 2007 - Piet Swanepoel, President, Off-Road Car Racing Commission, Motorsport South Africa, explained in a statement published on March 2, 2007 by Superwheels that the maneuver of introducing a technologically advanced live tracking system had been adopted keeping safety in mind. With GPS (Global Positioning System), off-road racing in South Africa has got a cutting edge in international safety technology.

"We have been investigating the introduction of the system for two years, and peace of mind racing has been the major motivation," Piet Swanepoel said.

"There are other major spin-offs, but safety was our biggest consideration," he said. "By its nature, off-road racing takes competitors into remote areas where keeping track of them is almost impossible. Crews also get lost and if anyone has an accident off the course it could take hours for word to filter through to race officials."
