/24-7PressRelease/ - SAN DIEGO, CA, July 02, 2008 - The San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC), Chapter 59, is pleased to announce that the International 400-Day Clock Chapter #168 will hold a meeting at the Southwest California Regional, on Friday, November 21, at 4 pm. Interested guests will be welcomed at the meeting. The Southwest California Regional is a three-day event, held November 20-22, 2008, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California. The meeting of the International 400-Day Clock Chapter makes the Southwest California Regional a truly global affair.

The Southwest California Regional is an annual watch and clock collector's event produced and managed by NAWCC Chapter 59 and co-hosted by NAWCC Chapter 136. The Mart attracts horological sellers and buyers, all seeking treasures and making deals over more than 250 tables jam-packed with watches, clocks, spare parts, watchmaking and clockmaking tools, reference books, watch and clock accessories, and more. Many antique dealers attend the Southwest California Regional to replenish their inventory of vintage clocks and watches, making it one of the few major events at which the average collector can discover true "wholesale" deals on collectible timepieces.

The Southwest California Regional will also have a display of antique and vintage watches and clocks that will be open to the general public.

The International 400-Day Clock Chapter #168 is a group of hobbyists dedicated to collecting, restoring, and preserving all forms of Torsion Pendulum Clocks, also known as "Anniversary clocks." Instead of a typical clock pendulum that swings from side to side, a torsion pendulum hangs in a fixed orientation and rotates slowly: first one direction (about 270 to 360 degrees); stops; reverses and rotates in the other direction the same amount; stops; reverses, and so on. The torsion pendulum originally consisted of a simple flat disc which evolved into something that made it more obvious that it was rotating, such as with balls or other ornaments. Chapter 168 encourages research and study to develop and preserve all historical information and knowledge of these unique clocks for the benefit of members and the general public.

As the date of the Southwest California Regional approaches, registration forms will be available online. For the latest information about the Southwest California Regional, visit http://www.nawcc59.org/regional.html.
