Spartan Logistics Expands Indiana Warehouse Space by Acquiring 130,000 Square Foot Facility

Entering its 25th year in business, Spartan Logistics, a third-party logistics company based in Columbus, Ohio, has increased its total warehouse space to nearly 2 million square feet by acquiring a 130,000 square foot Indianapolis facility.

COLUMBUS, OH, October 11, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Entering its 25th year in business, Spartan Logistics, a third-party logistics company based in Columbus, Ohio, announced the opening of its Indianapolis location. Spartan currently operates seven warehouses located in Ohio, Indiana and South Carolina. The Indianapolis facility will be Spartan's eighth U.S. location and its second in Indiana.

Spartan Logistics has partnered with Farmers & Merchants State Bank, headquartered in Archbold, Ohio, for the financing of this expansion. "The bank is pleased to continue to partner with Spartan Logistics and is excited about its opportunities in Indianapolis and future success," said Rob Graham, vice president of commercial banking in Perrysburg, Ohio.

With immediate plans to fill its new 130,000 square foot warehouse facility, Spartan Logistics says the first phase of the project, filling nearly 30,000 square feet by the end of October, is already underway. The second phase of the project will fill almost 100,000 square feet by January.

Spartan currently works with over 100 national and local accounts providing outsourced warehouse, freight and order fulfillment services and is seeking additional opportunities in Indianapolis, a high-growth logistics region.

Steve Harmon, president of Spartan Logistics, is enthusiastic about the opportunities in Indianapolis. "Indianapolis feels like home to us. The city has a great labor force and represents a perfect location with our current geographic footprint," Harmon said.

Starting in November, Spartan Logistics will be hiring 35 positions at the new east Indianapolis facility. Interested parties should send resumes to [email protected].

The new warehouse facility allows Spartan Logistics' customers to expand their supply chain and obtain world-class service without capital investment. Spartan will help the new facility's occupants by outsourcing the occupants' order fulfillment and upgrading their long-term facility solutions.

"We are always willing to help businesses improve their logistics by going where they need us to be in order to make the biggest impact on their distribution," said Harmon. "We are in the business of making our customers more successful."

This will be Spartan's second warehouse facility in Indiana. Since 2000, Spartan Logistics has operated a 400,000 square foot warehouse facility in Marion, Indiana. With this acquisition, Spartan Logistics will increase its total warehouse space to nearly 2 million square feet.
