NEW CASTLE, DE, September 04, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Speakman Company announced today that Speakman Cooling Solutions, an HVAC division of the Speakman Company, has been selected by Resorts World Sentosa to supply OASys and AMAX brand IDEC (Indirect Direct Evaporative Cooling) coolers to provide outdoor cooling for the queuing areas within its Universal Studios Singapore theme park - Southeast Asia's first and only.
Providing sufficient cooling in the humid climate of Singapore was difficult. Speakman IDEC coolers were tested and adjusted to meet the challenge of this environment. "The OASys and AMAX products will create a more relaxing and inviting environment outdoors, hence increasing guests' enjoyment of the park in the hot and humid Singapore weather" said Mr. Russell Waters, Director of Speakman Cooling Solutions, "We are honored to be a part of Southeast Asia's first Universal Studios Theme Park".
A mega resort with a casino and two major attractions - Universal Studios Singapore and Marine Life Park - Resorts World Sentosa is Asia's most exciting family resort destination. Spanning 49 hectares and costing S$6.59 billion (US$4.2 billion) to build, the Resort's myriad of exciting offerings for the entire family include a world class maritime museum, a water theme park, a luxury wellness spa, accommodation options spanning 6 hotels and 1,800 rooms, world-class entertainment and an unparalleled array of dining and shopping outlets. Located a short 20-minute ride away from Changi Airport, Resorts World Sentosa is also neighbor to attractions that range from championship courses at the Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore's largest shopping mall VivoCity and Singapore's largest nightspot St. James Power Station.
Executive Vice President of Projects at Resorts World Sentosa, Mr. Michael Chin, said, "Universal Studios Singapore is a landmark attraction never before available in Southeast Asia and we strive to provide the most comfortable experience for all guests within the park."
The contract with Resorts World Sentosa is a major step for Speakman's Cooling Solutions Division, which is looking forward to providing innovative energy efficient cooling solutions to other major projects in the United States and worldwide. The contract is worth more than US$2mm. Production and preparation work has already begun and the evaporative cooling units are due to be installed in the fourth quarter of 2009, in time for the park's opening in early 2010.
