SRCH2 Sets the Bar for Real-Time Search Performance

Benchmark Tests Showcase 4x Throughput Advantage over Leading Open Source Search Package
IRVINE, CA, June 05, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SRCH2 today announced breakthrough performance results that establish its in-memory search engine as the standard for search. When compared directly with the most widely used open source search engine, SRCH2 delivers 4x the throughput, on average, and unprecedented feature improvements.

Stephen E Arnold, author of "The Enterprise Search Report" and The Google Legacy, said, "SRCH2 is among the first search engines--maybe the first--to deliver an "everything happens now" search experience to the user."
"As the user begins typing in the query box, SRCH2 provides suggestions, facets, and relevant content instantly," Arnold adds. "Unlike traditional search systems, SRCH2 has been engineered to use advanced optimization to deliver information the user wants and needs without worrying about syntax, content type, or source. The vast majority of search engines put barriers between the user and answers. SRCH2 knocks down those barriers. SRCH2 delivers a next-generation solution for site search and other applications."

The new benchmark tests compared SRCH2's latest version 4.3.2 to Apache Solr 4.8.0. Apache Solr is the RESTful service extension of Apache Lucene. The complete report is available here: http://srch2.com/srch2-solr-benchmark-4x-throughput-increase/

On identical servers, using the same open and publically available data set of 5 million records, SRCH2 delivered a 4x throughput advantage, on average. Here are highlights of the tests:

SRCH2 OFFERS 4X GREATER QUERY THROUGHPUT.
SRCH2 IS 5.4X FASTER THAN SOLR ON AN IDENTICAL DATA SET.
SRCH2'S ADVANTAGE INCREASES WITH MORE RECORDS.

In addition, the tests also showcased SRCH2's ability to deliver additional capabilities, which are not currently supported by Solr. These include persistent rankings in the case of fuzzy matches. Fuzzy results are returned by Solr's Lucene engine with no configured rankings, and therefore poor relevance.

SRCH2's throughput advantage enables not only faster and more relevant search, but also, new uses and markets for search analytics. SRCH2 can now bring fuzzy search, event normalization, and geo-awareness to the complex event stream, at the point of ingestion. This means banks can process transactions faster, and reduce per-transaction risk. It means more analytics applied to events as they happen, rather than afterwards.

"We're excited to bring the in-memory revolution to the search market," said SRCH2 CEO Dev Bhatia. "Apache Solr is widely used in the enterprise, not just for search boxes, but also for many search, matching and normalization operations. Today's benchmarks validate not only the superior SRCH2 experience, but also the application of this technology to new markets, including real-time analytics during complex event streams."

SRCH2 offers a RESTful service and query format which are consistent with Apache Solr, enabling a seamless migration path from Solr to SRCH2.
