St. Joseph Hospital's 2016 Golf Tournament at Pelican Hill Will Provide Support for Innovative 'Structural Heart Disease Program'

Structural heart disease program offers comprehensive services and minimally invasive techniques focused on correcting physical flaws of the heart

ORANGE, CA, April 07, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- St. Joseph Hospital will host its annual golf tournament at the gorgeous Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach on April 18, 2016 this year, with proceeds from the event directly supporting the state-of-the-art Structural Heart Disease Program at the hospital, which utilizes comprehensive services and minimally invasive techniques to help individuals who suffer with conditions related to physical flaws and defects in the heart.

"There is a lot of excitement for the 31st annual St. Joseph Hospital Golf Tournament to be held at a brand new location," said Joseph Conway, President of Diversified Investment Services, Inc., a St. Joseph Hospital Foundation board member and chair of the 2016 St. Joseph Hospital Golf Tournament. "We are looking forward to 18 holes of golf with amazing ocean views; it's going to be a great event."

The Structural Heart Disease Program, a focus of St. Joseph Hospital's $50-Million Innovating for a Healthier Community comprehensive campaign, will concentrate on correcting congenital and serious heart conditions that have traditionally required open-heart surgery - using minimally invasive techniques. The program will be centered in the nation's first true Hybrid Operating Room, which was established at the hospital in 2010, and will combine the skills of a multi-disciplinary team including cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists and cardiologists specializing in imaging. Through this team's expertise, patients who wouldn't be able to tolerate open-heart procedures - older seniors and very young children - will have the chance to lead better, healthier lives.

Participants' fees include 18 holes of golf, a golf cart rental, Continental breakfast, on-course refreshments, lunch, merchandise store credit, and an awards dinner. There will also be a raffle drawing with winners to be announced over dinner.
