HOUSTON, TX, May 7, 2009 - Steel buildings manufacturer, Rigid Buildings Systems, Inc., is celebrating the one-year anniversary of RigidRock , a synthetic decorative construction material with impressive structural qualities.

RigidRock is made of polyurethane, outlasts real stone and looks better, longer, than the real thing, said Steve Olson, vice president of sales and marketing for the company - the only commercial steel building manufacturer in the U.S. that is currently offering this product.

"RigidRock looks so authentic, and is so cosmetically pleasing, that even the stone mason is fooled," said Olson.

How could synthetic stone actually outperform natural stone? "To begin with," said Olson, "RigidRock has an insulation value of R-4.5 per inch of thickness, and it provides higher impact resistance than real stone and cast stone products. Furthermore, no stonemason is ever needed to install RigidRock. Construction crews use standard woodworking tools to attach it directly to steel panels, wood or concrete."

RigidRock is fabricated into a variety of decorative stone panels, profiles and kits, said Olson, each used as realistic alternatives to real stone, cast stone and other imitation stone products.

RigidRock has been time-tested with more than 30 years of weathered performance, he said. Closed cell properties make it:

Waterproof and weather-resistant
Lightweight - only one pound per square foot and
Resistant to solvents, pests and fungus

"Customers love to use RigidRock in the design of steel buildings," he said. "It is 100 percent inert, non-toxic, non-gaseous and odor-free. On top of that, RigidRock is a 'Built Green' product. 'Built Green' is a national program that promotes environmentally-friendly, resource-efficient construction, development and design."
