WILTSHIRE, UK, September 25, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steelhenge's annual two day business continuity seminar was held in London on 25-26th August, reviewing developments in business continuity over the past year. Topics included ICT continuity advice for business continuity managers and the range of exercising options available to the business continuity team. The two day seminar, designed to ensure Steelhenge's continual development and refinement of best practice and thought leadership, also examined the effective use of the business impact analysis in the assessment and development of an organisation's business continuity plan. Following the success of the two day business continuity seminar, Steelhenge plans to launch a programme of free breakfast seminars for business managers, starting in December. For more information, call 0845 094 2117.

Isobel Nicholas, Communications Manager for Steelhenge, said "The annual seminar is always an opportunity to take a step back from the coalface, share experiences and examine whether current business continuity advice and procedures are the absolute best they can be. It ensures we remain open-minded, innovative and learn from our wealth of experience. Steelhenge aims to maintain its reputation as one of the industry leaders in business continuity best practice, and we take a pride in devoting the time and effort necessary to achieve this."

"An ideal example of how important it is to regularly review business continuity consultancy practice was the discussion about the use of the Business Impact Analysis," Isobel said. "This is a widely used approach in business continuity management, designed to evaluate the most time-critical operations of a business and forms a cornerstone in the development of the business continuity management plan. However, too often companies get too immersed during this phase of a project; and we have rescued several who have become entangled in the process. The seminar enabled everyone to take a step back and look at this issue," Isobel explained. "The BIA often needs a pragmatic approach based on what is realistically achievable and appropriate for the business in terms of size and appetite, otherwise there is a danger that it will dominate the entire process, without any ultimate progress or useful results at the end of it."
