/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Stephen Gaterell, a consultant to the Dubai Gold and Commodity Exchange (DGCX) and acting Head of Business Development for GFIN Green Pty Ltd in Sydney on a contractual basis, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in commodities trading and management.
Skilled in developing traders and managers for the commodities and financial areas, Mr. Gaterell was until recently the CEO of the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange. His responsibilities for the organization included overseeing day-to-day operations, controlling the executive committee and bringing in new customers. Having been compelled to return to Australia owing to illness in the family, he is currently serving as a consultant to ensure a smooth handover. He looks forward to a continuing association with the successful and fast-growing exchange.
Prior to joining the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange, Mr. Gaterell was a board director at Liffe from 1994 to 2000, and a managing director of Merrill Lynch Global Derivatives from 1994 to 2001. He has also chaired and held membership to a number of disciplinary panels, audit and risk committees, and floor committees. He currently serves on a specialist panel for the NYSE/LIFFE that deals with extraordinary discipline or arbitration cases relating to trading and exchange usage products. This role is as requested and approved by the exchange. Throughout his career, Mr. Gaterell has also worked with many finance companies, including Phibro Salomon Bros, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and UBS.
Mr. Gaterell first began working in commodities exchange in the sugar industry at the age of 20 in England. He attributes his success to his honesty, integrity and hard work. In five years, Mr. Gaterell hopes to work with a major exchange in the position of chief executive officer. He would also like to have the opportunity to work with established businesses creating wealth.
