Stolor Organics Makes Progress at 28th Annual NOFA-NY Organic Conference

Stolor Organics, LLC received strong reviews and made important new contacts at the 28th Annual NOFA-NY Organic Farming & Gardening Conference.

CAZENOVIA, NY, March 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stolor Organics, LLC partners John Stoker, Jennifer Stoker and Michael Taylor spent the weekend of January 22nd-24th in Saratoga Springs, NY at the 28th Annual NOFA-NY Organic Farming & Gardening Conference. It was the first trade show for the start up organic food company who specializes in cold pressed, unrefined, non-GMO certified organic oil. Their first public event was Harvest Fest in Syracuse, NY in November, 2009, which was a big success for the introduction of their Organic Sunflower Oil. "The NOFA Conference was a great opportunity to connect with important retailers, distributors, restaurants, farmers and customers who are passionate about organic food." said Stolor Organics partner, Michael Taylor. Stolor Partner, Jennifer Stoker agreed. "It was a great opportunity to network." "We talked to a lot of people and made several good contacts. Overall, it was a great experience!"

Saratoga Springs is only a three hour drive from New York City and attendance was good from companies who serve the mega metropolis. "It was an important event for us to have a booth. We want people in the organic community to know who we are, what we have to offer and how we do business." Taylor said "We were very pleased with our sales here at the conference but even more excited about some of the contacts we've made. The fact that several of those companies service New York City could potentially create important efficiencies for a small company like ours. From the beginning we have been working to build an environmentally friendly organic food company focused on offering quality non-GMO organic products at fair prices and providing great customer service." "That will continue to be our calling card Taylor said with a smile on his face and a determined optimism in his voice. "We know we have a lot more work to do but we're making progress and that feels good."

When asked about Stolor Organics products Taylor and his partners, John and Jennifer Stoker proudly showed off their Organic Sunflower Oil, which they quickly add is great in salads, light sauteing, sauces, soups or as a dipping oil. John said the he was pleased Stolor's Organic Sunflower Oil was one of the ingredients used in the food preparation for the NOFA event adding, "I got several nice compliments on how good the salad tasted. And that made me feel good." Stolor Organics donated 10 gallons of their sunflower oil for preparing the meals at the three day NOFA conference.

Organic Sunflower Oil, which has a light, slightly nutty flavor is a nice alternative to olive oil in salads or as a dipping oil with some fresh crusty bread. Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fat while sunflower oil is high in polyunsaturated fat, an omega 6 essential fatty acid. There are two essential fatty acids (EFA); they are omega 3 and omega 6. People need both to live but must get from food because the body cannot produce them. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat among other things, help regulate both good (HDL) and bad (LDL) cholesterol. Many Nutritionists recommend having approximately equal amounts of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats in their diet, while minimizing intake of saturated fats. Sunflower oil is also a natural emollient making it great for rejuvenating your skin. As a light, non-greasy oil it is often used as a massage oil.

When Taylor was asked about their Organic Trail Mix he was clearly proud of it and said they sold a lot at the NOFA Conference but also mentioned they competed a little with Tierra Farms who had a booth directly across the aisle from them. "Tierra Farms is a terrific company and one we admire. It was fortunate for us to have our booth so close to theirs. We took the opportunity to watch and learn. Gunther Fishgold (Tierra Farms President) and Darren Grout were very gracious and gave us good advice. Besides, competing with top notch competitors like Tierra Farms is good for us. It will help make us a better company."
