The Official Youth Football & Cheer Association of Stoney Creek High School

There's some excellent youth football and cheer programs in northern Oakland County but none today are aligned with or acting as a feeder program to Hart Middle School and Stoney Creek High School.

ROCHESTER, MI, January 11, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stoney Creek Junior Cougars (SCJC) Youth Football & Cheer has launched a new youth football and cheer feeder program for Hart Middle School and Stoney Creek High School. Scheduled to begin play in 2016, the Stoney Creek Junior Cougars has been accepted into the Northern Youth Football League (NYFL) to compete with associations such as Bloomfield Hills, Brandon, Clarkston, Lake Orion, Lapeer, Oxford, Rochester (Avondale) & Waterford.

"The goal of the Stoney Creek Junior Cougars is to provide an opportunity for youngsters aged 7 to 11 to develop and practice the fundamentals of football and cheer in a safe, competitive and fun environment," said Dr. Brad Semp, President, Stoney Creek Junior Cougars. "There's some excellent youth football and cheer programs in the northern Oakland County area but none today are aligned with or acting as a feeder program to Hart Middle School and Stoney Creek High School."

Semp added: "We're focused on developing 'The Cougar Way' - by actively working with our football and cheer coaches at the Stoney Creek High School varsity level all the way down through Hart Middle School to instill foundational concepts, principles, discipline and mindset."

The vision for the Stoney Creek Junior Cougars extends beyond football and cheer. The mission of the association includes educating, training and preparing children to be successful in school and life as well as helping to develop fundamentally sound football players and cheerleaders in a fun and safe manner.

Brad Zube, head coach of Stoney Creek High School varsity football, said, "My vision has always included a comprehensive program that extends beyond just the senior years of high school. To be as competitive as possible in today's high school athletics, it's important that we have youth athletes entering our system that bring a basic familiarity of what we're doing at the varsity level. I'm looking forward to working closely with the Junior Cougar program."

Tricia Williams, head coach of Stoney Creek High school varsity cheer, stated, "I'm extremely excited about the launch of the Stoney Creek Junior Cougars association. This is an excellent opportunity for us to help to develop and support the next generation of cheerleaders within the Stoney Creek community."

The Junior Cougars are set to begin play in the NFYL beginning on August 1, 2016. Football and cheer registration for the 2016 season will open on January 10th.
