Strong Pound Sees Surge in British Visitors to St Tropez, France

Experienced luxury French Riviera real estate experts from St Tropez House consider the latest financial reports to predict a rise in the number of British visitors to the south of France in 2015.

ST TROPEZ, FRANCE, March 11, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Few holiday destinations in the world can claim to have quite the same reputation among wealthy travelers as St Tropez. While this tradition of attracting some of the planet's wealthiest visitors has changed little over recent history, the demographic of those visitors almost invariably does every year. The annual trends are very much a consequence of the world financial climate at the time and any fluctuations in exchange rates can make a significant difference.

The latest financial data and hands-on experience of the St Tropez House team suggest that 2015 will be the summer of the British in the south of France.

For the past six months, the British Pound has been gradually gaining against the Euro and recently achieved its most substantial exchange rate in 7 years: GBP1/EUR1.37. In comparison with figures from 2013, British citizens are liable to save up to 20% more on properties rented or purchased overseas in Europe. The most significant savings can be experienced in high-end property such as luxury villas in St Tropez where exchange rates can become increasingly influential in the price.

St Tropez House manager, Emilia Jedamska, says, "During the last few months alone we have already experienced a considerable rise in enquiries from British clients eager to capitalize on the favorable exchange rates and enjoy a dream holiday on the French Riviera. This increase coincides with faster payment orders and faster decisions."

"This latest trend is reminiscent of a prosperous Inter-War era when British 'High Society' frequented the French Riviera as their holiday destination of choice."

Arriving by a luxury French night express train affectionately known as Le Train Bleu, the elite of British society made the trip to the French Riviera to seek warmer climes. Queen Victoria and Lord Salisbury, the British Prime Minister, were some of the first members of this exclusive group. The Cote d'Azur was later popularized further by renowned British figures such as Sir Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin, who even purchased a property there.

Emilia Jedamska revealed "British clientele looking to rent a luxury villa in St Tropez often have a preference for luxury neo-Provencal villas with extensive gardens, and large swimming pools. The vast majority of British visitors arrive with their pets, hence big land and fences play a major role in their final decision."

One of the most popular villas among British tourists so far has been Vieilles Pierres, a handsome stone villa in a prestigious Ramatuelle location just 300m from Pampelonne beach. With its location, large garden with gated swimming pool and outdoor barbecue dining area and its private access to the beach, Villa Vieilles Pierres is an ideal luxury family holiday villa.

Villa Aimee is another popular choice among British clients, in particular for its location near Chateau de la Messardiere, equidistant between St Tropez town centre and Pampelonne beach, and for its large private grounds spreading across 15,000m2 and including authentic Provencal vineyards.

St Tropez House is a premium property website facilitating people looking to rent luxury holiday houses on the Presqu'ile of Saint Tropez. St Tropez House is proud of its stunning portfolio of houses and villas to rent and properties available for sale in Saint Tropez, Ramatuelle and Gassin.
