COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, June 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As the Association for Software Testing (or AST) gears up for it's fourth annual software testing conference, CAST 2009, IT students find themselves getting a much needed break when it comes to conference fees. In order to facilitate a greater understanding of the realm of software testing, and to foster more interest in the industry, AST is offering students the opportunity to attend the conference for approximately half the regular non-member rate.

CAST 2009 is designed to advance awareness of the art of software testing, as well as give attendees a place to learn about, discuss and share new ideas and practices with both experts in the field and their peers. The conference draws software testers, as well as those wishing to become software testers, from around the globe.

Of special note to students this year will be the tutorial offered by James Bach. Mr. Bach's tutorial is entitled "Teach Yourself Software Testing", and will focus specifically on testing self-education. It is a system of analyzing experiences and questioning conventional wisdom, and will cover how to sort through differing schools of testing; the entry points for personal testing education; a syllabus of software testing concepts; how to identify, articulate, and test your own heuristics; as well as offer advice on how to assess your progress.

Bach's tutorial is perfect for any student who is interested in learning more about the software testing field, and who may be interested in pursuing a career in software testing.

This year's conference will be held in Colorado Springs, CO at the Antlers Hilton hotel on July 13-16. Previous year's conferences have taken place in Toronto, Ontario; Indianapolis; and Washington. To learn more about CAST 2009, students and faculty alike can visit http://market.cast2009.org
