Students Say "Yes!" to Thinking Clean

Yes! Air Conditioning & Plumbing and Clark County School District Announce the Winners of the First "Think Clean" Water Conservation Contest



    LAS VEGAS, NV, December 07, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yes! Air Conditioning & Plumbing and the Clark County School District (CCSD) today announced the winners of the first ever Yes! Think Clean Contest. The contest encouraged students from grades K-12 to submit ideas on how to conserve water in their local communities. Ideas were submitted in the form of written essays, drawings and models between Oct. 13 and Nov. 14, 2014 for a chance to win cash prizes. Six winners were selected out of the numerous entries received, based on creativity, topic-specificity, sustainability and impact of the idea. The winners are:

• First Place - Emily Ostfeld, Cashman Middle School. Awarded $250 for her poster illustration and essay on creating a special filtration system for Nevada's casinos to help use less water when washing towels, sheets and blankets.
• First Place - Heather Macias-Padron, Cashman Middle School. Awarded $250 for her poster on how water can be saved by simply repairing leaks, insulating pipes, and minimizing faucet and shower time.
• Second Place - Maximilian Kegley-Oyola, Jesse Scott Elementary School. Awarded $150 for his essay and drawing on a special invention, the Sifter Duck, which helps clean ocean water with a large water wheel attached to boats.
• Second Place - Mark Jason Ragunton, Jesse Scott Elementary School. Awarded $150 for his essay and drawing showcasing his invention, the WaterCleana-Tron 5020. The device, as detailed in the essay, would help clean water by separating dirt and compost from unfiltered water.
• Third Place - Yesenia Fernandez, Estes McDoniel Elementary School. Awarded $100 for her essay on some common mistakes in homes that waste water and what homeowners can do to help conserve water.
• Third Place - Kenzo Roberts, Jesse Scott Elementary School. Awarded $100 for her essay and drawing on how a special tube invention can help save water while washing dishes.

Yes! Air Conditioning & Plumbing is donating an additional $100 to the each of the winning students' schools.
