-- Sukarya announced today that they have graduated from the GlobalGiving Accelerator program, gaining entry into the GlobalGiving marketplace and becoming a recognized partner of GlobalGiving. As part of the Accelerator, Sukarya successfully raised $11,150 from 82 unique individual donors to support their project, "Educating 240 Children in 6 Slums in Delhi."

"Education on wheels [EOW] is a uniquely designed program which prepares slum children for formal education by taking the school to them. EOW is a well equipped bus with computers, TV and other essential education related materials. The idea is to motivate slum kids & their parents by providing good facilities (AC Bus, Good teachers), innovative curriculum to bring kids up to 3rd grade school level in one year. Preparing them for 3rd grade examination & enroll them into local 4th grade school," said Meera Satpathy, the founder and chairperson of Sukarya. The mission of Sukarya is to focus on ensuring equitable access to quality health services for all including the poorest sections of the society, especially women, adolescents and children. The vision of Sukarya is health for all. "Better Health, Better Society"; a society in which citizens enjoy holistic health and their well-being. Healthy and successful citizens contribute actively to overall growth of their family, community and the society. The founder and chairperson of Sukarya, Meera Satpathy was nominated for and invited by the United State of Women Summit, convened by the White house, held in June last year. It was a huge recognition for Sukarya for its good work in the area of key gender equality issues focused on economic empowerment, health and wellness, educational opportunity, leadership, and civic investment. Sukarya also started its global operation by establishing Sukarya USA, its office in Seattle, around the same time last year.
