Metuchen, New Jersey - West City Films and Passion River Films are releasing "So Much So Fast," about the remarkable events set in motion when Stephen Heywood discovers he has ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) at age 29 and his brother Jamie becomes obsessed with finding a cure. "So Much So Fast" will be available on Blockbuster Online, Netflix, and Borders Books on September 30, 2008.

What would you do if you were 29 and found you may only have a few years to live? In "So Much So Fast," Oscar-nominated filmmakers Steven Ascher and Jeanne Jordan take viewers into the world of Stephen Heywood, as he falls in love, marries, raises a son and rebuilds two houses while coping with ALS, a paralyzing nerve disease that is typically fatal in two to five years. ALS is an "orphan disease" largely ignored by drug companies.

In reaction, with no medical background, Jamie Heywood creates a research group and in two years builds it from three people in a basement to a multi-million dollar ALS mouse facility. Finding a drug in time becomes Jamie's all-consuming obsession. Critics have called "So Much So Fast", "a beautiful film that unfolds like a thriller."

Filmmakers Ascher and Jordan were inducted into the stunning world of ALS when Jeanne's mother, who is featured in their Sundance Film Festival Grand Prize winner "Troublesome Creek", came down with the disease. Like the Jordan family of "Troublesome Creek", the Heywoods are smart, acerbic and capable of upending the cliches of their situation with black humor and real insight.

"So Much So Fast" premiered at Sundance in January 2006, won the Audience Award at the Independent Film Festival of Boston and has been an official selection in major international festivals including Hot Docs Toronto and Full Frame.

One of the best reviewed films of the year "So Much So Fast" earned a 100% rating from major critics at Rottentomatoes.com. The Boston Globe's "****" review hails it as "Triumphant! Unforgettable." Slant Magazine calls it "Humorous. Impressive. Effortlessly profound." Entertainment Weekly gave "So Much So Fast an "A-".

SO MUCH SO FAST. Documentary. English. 87 minutes. Widescreen digital NTSC. Not rated. Directed by Steven Ascher and Jeanne Jordan.
