Suzanne Ryan Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Clinical Research

Suzanne Ryan handles research and protocol development in varied research disciplines, presently in the field of spinal cord injury using probiotics to prevent UTIs



    CARINGBAH, NSW, AUSTRALIA, May 21, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Suzanne Ryan, Researcher and Project Manager for Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in clinical research.

Ms. Ryan has amassed more than 20 years of professional experience in the field of scientific research. She is currently responsible for conducting clinical trials, clinical research, and for overseeing GCP clinical trial management, clinical monitoring, protocol development in therapeutic areas, change management, and the implementation of specifically designed protocols. She also handles research and protocol development to test probiotics in spinal cord injury to prevent UTIs, and designs methodology for identifying biofilm on urinary catheters in a study population. She has just completed a hospital-wide VTE prevention programs, including design implementation and audit design, which is now part of NSW Health policy. Her health informatics background has enabled her to be involved in the research and development of online data entry tools, and the implementation of hospital-wide initiatives that follow Australian health directives.

Ms. Ryan attributes her success to her determination, ability to accept failure and learn from it, maintain a positive attitude, and never give up. She became involved in her profession because she was seeking something flexible where she could work occasionally from home. Research for HIV/AIDS was very new at the time, and her research site was the first to write guidelines for clinical data collection and standards in 1990. These standards were further formalised in Australia in 1991. "This work was recognised by her peers and she was asked to assist a team to found an organization to assist new researchers in public health in Australia (AHRDMA) and is presently the vice president."

She received a Master of Health Sciences with a concentration in Clinical Research Data Management and a Graduate Certificate in Health Information Management from the University of Sydney. Her expertise is in the disciplines of, HIV, Endocarditis, Intraocular Lenses and Spinal Injury. She also attended Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College in North Sydney, New South Wales. She is a lifetime member of the Australasian Health and Research Data Manager's Association (AHRDMA). In the next five years, Ms. Ryan will be entertaining different options, perhaps in the areas of consulting and lecturing, in addition to utilizing the skills she has to improve the clinical research approach especially in novel ideas with new researchers.
