Suzuki Marine Wins Its Sixth NMMA Innovation Award for New Generation DF40A and DF50A 4-Stroke Outboard Motors

Latest outboards from Suzuki bring big engine technology to small affordable segments.
  • New 2011 Outboard Motors Win NMMA Innovation Award at Miami Boat Show.
SANTA MONICA, CA, March 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Outboard motor manufacturer Suzuki Marine was honored today with the National Marine Manufactures Association's (NMMA) Innovation Award for its new DF40A/50A four stroke motor. This award for the most innovative new product in the Outboard Engines category was voted on by a panel of esteemed marine journalists and presented by Zuzana Prochazka, President of Boating Writers International (BWI) Board of Directors during the 70th annual Miami International Boat Show.

This marks an unprecedented sixth time Suzuki Marine has received the coveted NMMA Innovation Award, with the company's industry-leading line up of fuel-injected 4-Stroke outboards receiving five of its six awards. "Our entire team works hard to advance the technology, performance and value our products provide to all kinds of boaters. We feel that every boater deserves the very latest in engine performance, whether they're fishing for crappie at the local lake or out in the Gulf Stream chasing kingfish," said Larry Vandiver, Suzuki Marine Marketing Director. "An award like this tells our factory engineers that they're on the right track - and definitely gives our district sales manager, local dealers and customers something to really crow about."

Suzuki has designed and engineered these all-new-for-2011 DF40A and DF50A in-line DOHC 3 cylinder outboards from a clean sheet of paper. They've got 15% more displacement and, and at just 229 pounds, are 5% lighter than their predecessors. The DF40A and DF50A are the only engines in this class to incorporate DOHC (Dual Overhead Cams), Maintenance Free Timing Chain, Easy Start System and Electronic Fuel Injection with Lean Burn Control System. (Suzuki's Lean Burn Control System is an intelligent system that monitors engine performance and operating conditions to predict and deliver maximum fuel efficiency. This innovative induction system achieves a 23% improvement in fuel consumption, while at the same time delivering a 6% increase in top speed, and a 25% quicker acceleration time over previous models.)

Starting is a breeze, with Suzuki's Easy Start System. Turn the key one time and the engine automatically turns over, coming to life at your command. And the maintenance free, oil-bathed timing chain adds to dependability and reduces repair costs.

"It's tough out there," added Vandiver, "and we know there are lots of boaters who are really determined to get the most for their boating dollar. They can be confident they're getting the best when it comes to technology and performance, whichever Suzuki outboard they choose."

The compact size and light weight of the new DF40A and DF50A make them an ideal power match for a wide variety of boats, from aluminum fishing boats and small fiberglass skiffs, to pontoon boats and RIBs. Like all their outboard motors, Suzuki backs these new 40- and 50-horsepower models with a 3-Year Limited Warranty.
