For more than two decades, Dr. Amamilo has been excelling as an orthopedist across Europe. Previously, he came to prominence as an orthopedic surgeon for the National Health Service from 1993 to 2008. Other noteworthy roles held in Dr. Amamilo's career include senior lecturer and consultant for the University of Nigeria Medical School. During this period, he also attended to the orthopaedic ailments of the First President of Nigeria-Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. On January 4, 2014, Dr. Amamilo received conferment of chieftaincy title and membership of Enugwu Ukwu Traditional Cabinet by the Enugwu Ukwu Community, and on December 31, 2016 he was presented with a Professional Excellence Award by the Urunnebo (Obu Ozom) Community in Enugwu Ukwu.
Having known from a young age that he wanted to work in the field of medicine, he prepared for his career by investing in his education. He earned a certificate from the College of Immaculate Conception in Nigeria in 1960, an honours Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Nigeria in 1966, a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Ibadan in 1974 and a Master of Surgery in orthopedic surgery from the University of Liverpool in 1982. To stay at the top of his field, he is a fellow of RCS in England, the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Orthopedic Association, and the International College of Surgeons in Chicago. In addition, he is a member of the Girdlestone Orthopedic Society of Oxford and he has authored numerous articles to professional journals, including "The Role of Periosteum in Growth Plate Failure." As he looks to the future, Dr. Amamilo intends to continue providing top of the line orthopedic surgery services while taking on new projects and opportunities as they arise.
