/24-7PressRelease/ - March 11, 2008 - The Jordan Economic Forum this year is held under the Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and is hosted at the Dead Sea King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center. The event, which is taking place during the period of March 2nd and 3rd, 2008, is organized by the Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group in collaboration with the Jordan Investment Board (JIB).
As the diamond sponsor of the event, Mr. Haitham Dahleh board member of Taameer Jordan Holdings took part in a panel discussion about the real-estate sector and its effect on the development and growth of the local economy at large. Mr. Dahleh's discussion with Jordanian and regional developers revolved around the directions the real-estate development trends are taking today, whereby it is stated that a rise in demand on real-estate properties leads to a directly proportional rise in demand on construction and tourism services.
He further highlighted that the real-estate sector in particular contributes to about 5% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Jordan. Its annual growth rate is recorded to be 10%. The real-estate sector was granted 16% of the bank's total credit facilities and it employs 7% of Jordan's total workforce over the last 3 years.
Taameer Jordan Holdings also displayed its JD 1 billion "Ahl Al-Azim" project at the event, a housing project considered the largest in Jordan to target low and medium income segments. This project located in Al Jiza district offers around 16000 housing units.
The "Ahl Al-Azim" project includes housing units that are between 180 and 80 sqm in size and villas that are 315 sqm in size. These housing units are offered at affordable payment terms, and the project as a whole is being developed in collaboration with the Jordan Housing and Urban Development Corporation.
The booth also displays Taameer Jordan's flagship projects including "Ayla Park Plaza", "Andalucia", its "Red Sea Resort", and "Gardens Villa" Project.
It is important to note that this is the third edition of the Jordan Economic Forum. The event was first held in 2003 and later again in 2005. It is ranked as one of the best business and investment related events hosted regionally and internationally. In previous years, it attracted more than 1000 participants from all around the world. Participating parties included representatives from private and public sectors, business professionals, investors and management figures.
