Take a Punt on the National Lottery Anniversary Run

The Olympic Stadium reopens for the first time since the 2012 Games with 5-mile run reports LondonTown.com.

LONDON, ENGLAND, April 25, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Up to 10,000 members of the public will be able to tread in the footsteps of legends with the National Lottery Anniversary Run on Sunday 21st July 2013 - the first event to use the Olympic Stadium since last summer's unforgettable 2012 Olympic Games. Tickets go on sale at 9am today (Thursday 25th April) with entries allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 5-mile course will cross the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before entering the Olympic Stadium and finishing on the same track that brought glory to the likes of Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah and David Weir. Each runner is allowed to bring two friends or family members to occupy the stadium seats and cheer them on for their final lap of honour. There will also be a family fun run for up to 2,000 children and adults covering a shorter distance within the Olympic Park. Travellers arriving from outside London to take part in any of the many Olympic Anniversary events this summer can conveniently book their accommodation on LondonTown.com, where there's a wide range of London hotels to suit all budgets.

Combining sport and community spirit, the National Lottery Anniversary Run will no doubt remind all those involved of those balmy days last summer where a nation was transfixed, records were broken and history was made. The run is one of a series of events to coincide with the re-opening of the Olympic Park a year after the Games made us all dream. The run comes one week before the London Anniversary Games - three days of professional sporting competition from 26th to 28th July, the anniversary of the Opening Ceremony.

Other events at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this summer include EAST, a weekend of cultural events celebrating the reopening of the Park (27th and 28th July) and the RideLondon bonanza of cycling-related fun taking place on the weekend of 3rd & 4th August 2013.
