Tampa Welcomes Civil Rights Activist the Rev. C.T. Vivian as Keynote Speaker for Annual Black Tie Event

100 Black Men of Tampa Bay, Inc. and the USF Tampa Bay Educational Partnership host black-tie dinner to honor community youth and educational leaders.



    LUTZ, FL, March 01, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Tampa Bay Chapter of 100 Black Men, Inc. and the USF Tampa Bay Educational Partnership are co-sponsoring a black-tie event dedicated to honoring a few of Tampa Bay's brightest minds. The Standing for Education event begins with Cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and dinner starting at 7 p.m., March 16 at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton, 4500 West Cypress St. Tampa, FL 33607.

The keynote speaker is the Rev. C.T. Vivian. As a longtime civil rights activist, Vivian has significantly impacted human rights issues in communities around the country. He is one of the most respected leaders of Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Vivian currently serves as the vice president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an African-American civil rights organization.

"We are honored to have the Rev. C.T Vivian speaking at our event this year. He has been a pillar of the African American community for many years now. This is a great opportunity for all people of the greater Tampa Bay community, both young and old, to learn more about him and the activism work he continues to do even to this day," says Sean Dickerson, President of 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay, Inc.

The event will also honor a few men and women who are striving daily to improve the academic lives of deserving youth in the Tampa Bay community. The award recipients will be acknowledge for their achievements and highlighted for their continuous contribution to minority students' excellence in education.

Community leader recipients are chosen based on the following: ability to influence minority students' academic achievement at the K-12 and collegiate level, made contribution to enhance minority students' exposure to professional careers and those who have been recognized for decreasing achievement gaps.
