Tarps Plus to Donate Tarps to Homeless for The Guitar Player Feature Film

The leading U.S. tarps supplier will be donating thousands of tarps to the homeless across the nation to help bring awareness for a feature film about a homeless man called The Guitar Player.

PALMDALE, CA, September 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "The Guitar Player" is an independent feature film written by Michael Stein. It deals with the stark reality of the homeless, and follows a man who lives on the streets in Los Angeles. That in itself is eye opening, but there is another aspect of this movie that is catching attention. Companies like Tarps Plus and Ace Canopy are getting involved by donating tarps and canopies. The reason behind the movie is to raise awareness about the homeless, and you can become part of the motion picture when you make a donation to the budget.

In order to bring awareness to the project, the leading tarps supplier in the country will be giving out thousands of poly tarps at various homeless shelters across the country. The waterproof
poly tarps will enable people living on the streets to stay dry and warm during the winter months.

Shooting begins in October of 2011, and fund raising started August 31, 2011 on Kickstarter. The minimum amount needed for the budget is $150,000. In order to provide incentives for donations, there are 14 different pledge packages available. For as low as $10, one can have their name mentioned at the official website, as a supporter.

For $25 you get a movie poster signed by filmmaker Michael Stein and the cast. There is access to behind-the-scenes film footage, and you also get the $10 package. Each level includes incentives from lower levels, and it goes up to $10,000.

There are some attractive incentive packages. You can buy a single poly tarp for someone living on the streets. Another package includes two tickets to a movie premier, a Skype session with the filmmaker, and having your name on the credits as an associate producer. For $800 you get a guitar signed by the cast, and for $1,000 you can be an extra in the movie. For $10,000, you can have an excellent promotion package for your business or organization. If the $150,000 is not met, there will be no movie, and no money changing hands.

Any funds over $150,000 will be used to increase production on "The Guitar Player". Michael Stein is not taking any pay from the budget, and half the profits will go to charity for the homeless.

Michael Stein is an actor/writer/filmmaker, and his roots are in acting and promotions. His friend, Paul Thomas Anderson, cast him in the 1997 drama "Boogie Nights", and this changed his career. Mr. Anderson's success was an inspiration for Michael to study film and make movies.

Micheal has worked on music videos, commercials, and movies, with some well-known and famous Hollywood directors. In 1999, he tried his hand at writing, directing, and producing a short film called, "Rituals and Resolutions" which did well at several film festivals. It was eventually distributed by HBO.

Stein stated, "We are thrilled about the film as well as the tarps drives. It give us a chance not just to promote the film and our cause but enables us to get involved with what is going on first hand."

"The Guitar Player" is a drama about a high school wrestler who leaves home after a terrible tragedy. He lives on the streets for 20 years, and faces a dilemma. Just when it gets darkest in his life, something amazing happens to bring about sudden prosperity, and it is not easy to deal with.

The feature film, "The Guitar Player" is funded by everyday people. It not only portrays the homeless and the issues they deal with, but it attempts to do something about the problem. There are many pledge packages available, and they start as low as ten dollars. All donations will be used for the budget, and half the profits will go to the homeless. Parts for the movie are not yet cast.

The tarp drives will take place in various cities across the nation until the end 0f 2012. If you are interested in holding a tarp drive in your city please contact www.tarpsplus.com and look up tarps drives.
