TORONTO, CANADA, October 02, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Toronto Chapter of the Ontario Wine Society is proud to announce our first ever Taste and Order event to take place Monday, November 30th, 2009 at the University of Toronto, Faculty Club. This will be a gathering of 43 Ontario wineries representing all of Ontario's Designated Viticulture Areas (DVAs). The wineries will be serving, in total, over 200 of their most recent releases and finer VQA wines, half of them from the 2007 vintage. They will also be providing you with the opportunity to order the wines that you have tasted and enjoyed ... just in time for the holiday season.
"Event's like these are an exciting way for consumers to experience and learn more about all the great wines we are producing right here in our own province" says Ed Madronich, chair of the Wine Council of Ontario and President of Flat Rock Cellars. "People are buying more Ontario VQA table wines than ever and the timing is perfect for those wanting to include more local wines in their holiday entertaining."
"The Ontario Wine Society has been a tremendous supporter of the Ontario wine industry for many years" says Norm Beal, President of Peninsula Ridge Estate Winery and past chair of the Wine Council of Ontario. "... Their passionate advocacy of VQA Ontario wines has been key to the remarkable success story our industry has to tell. The Ontario Wine Society's upcoming Taste and Order event is a wonderful example of their support and enthusiasm for the Ontario wine industry. This is an event you will not want to miss!"
Tony Aspler, wine writer, creator of the Ontario Wine Awards and Order of Canada recipient says, "We are entering the Golden Age of Ontario VQA wines. If you haven't tuned into them yet this is a great time to start. Cheers!'"
Jim Warren, President of the Ontario Viniculture Association (OVA) is thrilled with the concept behind the event and says "The Ontario Wine Society has provided a marvelous opportunity for many Ontario wineries of all sizes to showcase their new releases. The OVA is delighted with the industry's response to this event that will feature 43 different wineries."
Why not take full advantage of having 43 of Ontario's great wineries in one location in Toronto and join the Ontario Wine Society for a night of great conversation, great food and great wine? Come out and talk with the owners and people that make the wines.
Also featured at the event, and just in time for gift giving, Eisch Breathable Glasses and Schott Zwiesel, titanium-crystal break-resistant glasses will be available to order at a 15% discount from retail prices (cheque or cash only) .
