CARY, NC, October 08, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Representatives from ByteWyze Computer Services and Beavers Family Dentistry recently participated in the Eastern North Carolina New Bern MS Bike Tour on September 13-14. The event was a two-day, open road cycling event held at Union Point Park in New Bern, North Carolina.

Riding for Team ByteWyze was Phillip Hare, David Yurko, Chip Harrell, and Chris Hare. Paul Beavers, Jean Beavers, Michele McCarl, Tim McCarl, and Jody Everett cycled on behalf of Beavers Family Dentistry. Collectively, the two teams raised $6,985 and rode a total of 780 miles during the two-day event. The MS Bike Tour 2008 represented Team ByteWyze's second time participating in an event as a cycling team.

"We're so appreciative of all of our corporate and individual sponsors that supported us and enabled us to exceed our goal," says ByteWyze's Phillip Hare. "I'm so proud of our team and their efforts and look forward to continuing to support the MS Society in future cycling events."

Beavers Family Dentistry's Paul Beavers says that his practice rode to help raise money to find a cure for MS and in honor of Beavers' employee and friend Michele McCarl, who has been diagnosed with MS. "We are all so proud of Michele for being able to participate and complete the ride with her husband, Tim," says Beavers.

Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with more than twice as many women as men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 400,000 people in the US and 2.5 million worldwide.
