BROOKLYN, NY, September 11, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The campaign is dubbed Never Give Up, which is attributed to Ted Kennedy's widely used mantra. A mobile billboard that will travel in Brooklyn is unveiled at a construction site today.

As a part of Climate Week NYC events, the campaign will culminate on Brooklyn Rebuilds, Brooklyn Cares Day on September 23 at a reception inside Brooklyn Borough Hall. The keynote speaker will be Mark Lowery, executive Director of New York State Office of Climate Change.

Lowes, The Clarett Group, Forest City Ratner Companies, Pier 41 Associates, IKEA, Greater New York City Building Trades Council, Bovis Lend Lease, AvalonBay Communities, Duane Reade, Con Ed Solutions, National Grid and WINDpower are among nearly fifty recipients of the 1st Brooklyn Cares Awards.

The awards will also be presented to Brooklyn's clergy. A posthumous recognition will go to Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of the Chabad - Lubavitch movement.

"As Brooklyn revitalization continues, we must reverse the spread of AIDS. Sadly, Brooklyn ranks among the nation's highest in new infections of HIV/AIDS. Secondly, we must continue to "Keep Brooklyn Green", Mooney said.

On World AIDS Day, December 1, Mooney plans to depart from San Antão, Cape Verde and row to New York's Brooklyn Bridge in a custom made boat named "Never Give Up".

The boat is fitted with solar panels, Air Breeze marine turbine, water desalinator, internet connection and is carrying 200 bottles of Tumai Water for the ballast. After drinking the water, Mooney will replace its content with sea water. The boat is being prepared by Composite Yacht, based in Trappe, Maryland. The journey will take approximately twenty-two weeks and is dedicated to the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

Where: 107-111 Lawrence Street in downtown Brooklyn

When: 12:00 noon on September 10.
