A widely regarded nanotechnology educator, Dr. Fang has served National Formosa University as an associate professor with the institute of mechanical and electrochemical engineering for more than a decade. During this time, he has developed expertise in a wide range of fields, including thin films, numerical simulation, modeling and simulation, molecular dynamics simulation, atomic force microscopy, nanoindentation, fluid mechanics, carbon nanotubes and molecular dynamics. Dr. Fang has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in Asia, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World. In addition, he was selected for inclusion in the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders, which was published in 2006.
Prior to pursuing a career in nanotechnology education, Dr. Fang received a Bachelor of Science from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 1993. He went on to attend National Cheng Kung University, where he received a Master of Science in 1995 and PhD in 2000. While he was completing postdoctoral research at the university, Dr. Fang was named the recipient of the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2001. He later joined Southern Taiwan University of Technology as an assistant professor, and rose to the rank of associate professor in 2004. Beginning on 2001, Dr. Fang served as a leader of the nanotechnology laboratory. He joined National Formosa University as an associate professor in 2005, and he has continued to serve the university in this capacity for more than 12 years.
Dr. Fang holds numerous patents relating to a new design for nanoindentation. Most recently, he was awarded the Distinguished Research Award by the National Science Council in Taiwan in 2011.
