/24-7PressRelease/ - MIAMI, FL, July 06, 2008 -- The Make a Wish Foundation, Terrell Owens, and GLAB Organization have partnered to fund raise and grant 25 children their wishes at the Hero of the Year Award Benefit. This lavish soiree will be hosted by Roselyn Sanchez of the CBS hit show Without a Trace. The event will take place on July 20, 2008 at international superstars Gloria and Emilio Estefan's restaurant Bongos Cuban Caf , located at the illustrious American Airlines Arena. A-list celebrities including NBA and NFL superstars will come together for the most extravagant event in Miami, which will include a star studded red carpet, live entertainment, and Miami Heat DJ, DJ Irie. This ultra exclusive event will feature live entertainment with a Latin flair.
The beneficiaries of the Hero of the Year event will be the Make a Wish Foundation and Terrell Owens Catch a Dream Foundation. Previous celebrity attendees of Terrell Owens events include Jaime Foxx, Will Smith, Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Serena Williams, and more.
Terrell Owens is an American football wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. Popularly known as, T.O., Owens has established himself as one of the NFL's most productive and outspoken players. Terrell Owens also heads his Catch A Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization created to erase hunger and the lack of basic daily needs facing many households in the nation. The foundation, based in Dallas, provides the necessary resources that children and youth require for realizing and acting on their dreams. Terrell has held various celebrity charity events since 2005 including his famous Celebrity Birthday Bash that donates the profits from the event to charity.
"I am a product of the community. The community has supported me throughout my career, so it is only right that I give back," explained Terrell.
This summer Terrell is holding his annual Football camp but this year he is bringing in celebrity star power. Michael Irvin along with Adam (Pacman) Jones are some of the featured celebrities that will lend advice to the youth about how to avoid mistakes that they have made.
Terrell also recently held the Hair Cutz-A-Thon in South Florida that was a family fundraising event that benefited youth from South West Broward Junior Athletic Association Optimist Club of Miramar and Sanctuary of Moses, a Miami-based organization that aids children in Benin, West Africa.
