Texans Take a Shine to Supersize Rental Cars in Dallas
RXT Pickup, Hummer H2, and Cadillac Escalade Remain Popular Rentals at DFW Elite Auto Rental.com Despite Green Trend

/24-7PressRelease/ - DALLAS, TX, February 05, 2008 - The buzz at this year's Detroit Auto show might be about the latest clean diesel or micro hybrid, but the Texans that rent from DFW Elite Auto Rental in Dallas don't seem to be deeply concerned about the size of their carbon boot prints.

"I know that being green is in fashion, but at our Dallas exotic car rental company, people are still coming in to rent our largest vehicles in very good numbers," says DFW Elite Auto Rental General Manager Tom Warren. "Three of our most popular rentals are Texas-sized vehicles: the International RXT Truck, the Cadillac Escalade and the Hummer H2. "

At 10,500 pounds, the RXT is second only to its sibling the CXT for the title of largest commercial pick up truck in the world. By making fewer than 500 per year, International has kept the Commercial Extreme Truck line from losing its cachet. According to Warren, among the model's celebrity owners are Demi Moore paramour Aston Kutcher and Tonight Show host Jay Leno.

"Even in truck country, the huge size of the RXT make people stop and stare. It's been very popular for corporate tail gating and building traffic to trade show booths," says Warren. "We work closely with a Fort Worth-based graphics company that does vehicle wraps to give the RXT a unique brand or product message for our corporate RXT rental clients," reports the Dallas auto rental executive.

"The Escalade and the Hummer have been leading Dallas wedding SUV rentals," says DFW Elite Auto Rental owner Ron Sturgeon. "I don't think the popularity of our supersize cars is due to people discounting the environment as much as it is a genuine need to get guests to a reception or bachelor party in the kind of comfort that a rental Escalade or rental Hummer delivers."

Sturgeon insists the environmental movement does not threaten the future of luxury and sports cars. "I don't see the world in terms of choosing between a car that's fun to drive or one that is good for the environment. In the long run, many of the next generation exotic cars are going to be environmentally friendly. In the short run, renting an Escalade, CXT, or Hummer for those occasions that call for them is an environmentally smart alternative to buying one. Sometimes it just makes sense to supersize by renting an SUV or RXT," says the Dallas business owner.
