'The British Invasion' to Rock 'n' Roll for Laura's House on Sept. 24

Proceeds from annual gala will support domestic violence prevention, education programs.

LADERA RANCH, CA, August 26, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laura's House, a Southern California nonprofit committed to ending the silence of domestic violence, will hold its 22nd annual gala on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. Presented by Laura Khouri and Michael K. Hayde, the British Invasion-themed event will unite Laura's House supporters and raise critical funds to sustain the nonprofit's emergency shelter, counseling and awareness programs and legal advocacy services for survivors and families of domestic violence. Two Laura's House advocates will be presented with a Crystal Heart Award for their contributions to the organization's longevity and success - Founder Pam Jacobson of The Healing Sanctuary and global cosmetics icon Urban Decay.

Since 1994, Laura's House has committed to bettering the lives of Orange County families affected by domestic violence. This year, the nonprofit expanded its reach with the opening of a Domestic Violence Advocacy Center in Garden Grove to serve victims with legal support and counseling resources. The expansion addresses an unmet countywide need for advocacy services and prepares victims for restraining order hearings and more.

"This event is our most important annual fundraiser and helps ensure our life-changing programs and services continue for victims of domestic violence," said Margaret Bayston, Laura's House CEO and Executive Director. "Each year, we look forward to an unforgettable night with loyal Laura's House supporters, as well as new faces, and mobilizing advocates to ending the vicious cycle of domestic abuse."

The 2016 gala honorees include:

• Pam Jacobson, founder of The Healing Sanctuary, and her team of highly trained employees provide a host of pro bono services, including yoga, stress management and self-care education to Laura's House advisors, care coordinators, therapists and other resource providers - helping them develop and implement similar strategies for domestic violence victims. Jacobson has been a Laura's House partner for nearly two years and focuses her work on nutrition, stress response management, movement therapy and healing environment strategies.

• Urban Decay donated $50,000 to Laura's House in 2015 as a part of its Ultraviolet Edge initiative to empower women and embrace their individuality in all aspects of life. The donation provided funding for critical resources for domestic violence survivors in Orange County and beyond. Last year, Urban Decay Founder Wende Zomnir encouraged company employees to participate in the Laura's House #StrandAgainstDV challenge in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Urban Decay employees colored strands of their hair purple - the national color of domestic violence - in solidarity of the fight against domestic violence.

Before the 2016 gala honorees are recognized, attendees will enjoy a British Invasion-themed cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a dinner program, live auction and awards presentation. Gala guests also will hear from an inspiring domestic violence survivor and advocate who now uses her experience to educate others from entering harmful and unhealthy relationships.

Presenting sponsors for the 2016 gala are Laura Khouri and Michael K. Hayde. Double Platinum sponsors include Argyros Family Foundation, The Jacqueline Glass Family, The Joe MacPherson Family, Urban Decay and Verizon. Platinum Album sponsors are The David Ball Family, Park Newport Apartments, Dick and Donna Pickup, The Thompson Foundation and Haskell & White LLP.
