The Dedicated Server Handbook to Participate in World IPv6 Day on June 8

Provides free video training to increase public awareness and participation in ISOC "Test Flight" for IPv6.

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 03, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Dedicated Server Handbook will be joining hundreds of other websites and Internet Service Providers in World IPv6 Day, a global event being organized by the World Internet Society (ISOC) on June 8, 2011. This event is intended to give the world audience a first real example of how the future Internet will work with the new IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) protocol.

The Internet is moving to this new protocol to replace the antique IPv4 protocol, which has been used since the Internet's infancy in the 1980's, due to the depletion of addresses in the IPv4 addressing space. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) allocated the final IPv4 block to the Regional Internet Registries in early February, 2011. The new protocol will expand the pool of available addresses from 4 billion to 340 nonillian (1030) addresses.

Major companies participating in World IPv6 Day include Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Akamai, and Limelight Networks. Approximately 300 websites and ISPs have already pledged to fully support native IPv6 on their network infrastructure from 00:00 - 23:59 UTC on June 8th 2011 for this massive experiment. Users with IPv4 addresses are not expected to be affected, but this is one of the phenomenon that this test is supposed to investigate. The Dedicated Server Handbook website will be operating in "dual-stack" mode, meaning that both users with native IPv6 connections, and legacy users with only IPv4 connections will be able to access the website.

In addition to participation in World IPv6 Day, The Dedicated Server Handbook has created a free video tutorial meant to assist dedicated server operators worldwide to learn the basics of IPv6 needed to migrate their servers, websites and even home Internet connection to IPv6, regardless of whether or not their ISPs provide native IPv6 support. The Dedicated Server Handbook seeks to be an avid supporter of the World Internet Society's goals to increase world IPv6 readiness.

The free video training is available on YouTube and at The Dedicated Server Handbook website, at http://www.TheDedicatedServerHandbook.com/tut/ipv6.php
