The Feature Film Selections for the 6th Annual Chicago Filipino American Film Festival
After a successful launch party at Dolce, the CFAFF is proud to announce its 2009 Official Feature Length Selections.

    CHICAGO, IL, October 25, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In its 6th year running, each year of the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival has topped the last. This year is no exception. After sorting through many applications, there were tough decisions to be made. The CFAFF announced the exciting line up in the Feature Length category at the official launch party held at Dolce.

Jerrold Tarog comes strong with two parts of his Camera triology. Mangatyanan (The Blood Trail) trails part one, Confessional, which, with the help of Ruel Dahis Anitpuesto, is the winner of Best ASEAN Film at the Cinemanila Film Festival. The first feature-length digitally animated film produced in the Philippines, Dayo, debuts its fusion of traditional classic Disney with a distinctive Filipino flair. Benito Bautista returns this year with his acclaimed documentary of two Fil-Am surfers who embrace their own identity as Filipinos in the Gift of Barong. Winner of an Audience Award for Best Feature at Cinemalaya as well as Best Actress for Mylene Dizon, writer and director Chris Martinez is proud to feature 100. Acclaimed hip-hop music video director Rik Cordero delivers a landmark feature film, Inside A Change, winner of Best Film from the HBO New York Latino Film Festival. Concerto is not only a historical period piece, but also is the winner of Best Picture at the Golden Screen Awards. Boses, garnered Best Film and Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil walked away with the award for Best Director at the Golden Screen Awards. Creatur, a drama which was produced entirely in Chicago using entirely local cast and crew, finishes off this year's highly anticipated feature length films with its World Premiere.

All full length feature films and short films will be showing at the new home of the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival, the Portage Theatre, November sixth through the eighth.

The primary mission of the festival is to highlight and celebrate the works of emerging Filipino-American filmmakers, as well as cutting-edge cinema from the Philippines. CFAFF is presented by the Filipino American Network (FAN) of Chicago, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

Previous years have included acclaimed features, such as Cavite, Imelda, Panaghoy Sa Suba (Call of the River), Slow Jam King, Blue Hour, Crying Ladies, Magnifico and Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Olivares.

The Filipino American Network (FAN) is a not-for-profit organization that calls, challenges and supports Filipino American young adults by providing resources, connections and opportunities to enrich their lives, support their growth and deepen their self-awareness of their Filipino heritage. In addition to the film festival, FAN also hosts the Beyond The Barrelman Exhibition of Filipino Art, a Holiday gift basket drive for seniors and other events serving Chicago's Filipino American community.
