There is a strong feeling of connectedness between The Glan and Liverpool Docks. Benjamin Bryan's male ancestors ( Benjamin was a past Landlord of The Glan ) were Liverpool Dockers
The Glan's customers seem to be a mix of Welsh and Liverpudlian.
The Tall Ships Race also recalls Holywell's history as the place where copper sheets and bolts were developed and fitted to ships of the line to protect them against worms and barnacles and which helped our Navy to win at Trafalgar.
The Glan being the site of the first recorded case of espionage when French spies were caught there trying to steal the formulae for the copper bolt and sheet production.
