/24-7PressRelease/ - ATLANTA, GA, June 06, 2008 - On June 12, employees from The Home Depot will take their home repair expertise out of their Buckhead store and into the house of a low-income homeowner in the English Avenue community. In partnership with Rebuilding Together, The Home Depot Foundation is sponsoring several Green Building home rehabilitation projects across the nation. Utilizing funds from the Housing Impact Grants program, Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA) will be incorporating green building principles into their June 12th project. "Team Depot", the associate-led volunteer group, will be using their home improvement know-how to make the eco-friendly home repairs.

RTA works to assure that low-income homeowners, particularly older adults, people with disabilities and multi-generation families, live in warmth, safety, and independence. Through the use of volunteers and sponsors, Rebuilding Together is able to carry out its mission of preserving and revitalizing homes and communities at no cost to the homeowner. The Home Depot has been a long time supporter of Rebuilding Together Atlanta, and with this grant, reaffirms The Home Depot's commitment to give back to the community.

The Home Depot's Housing Impact Grants program supports affordable housing projects built or preserved with environmentally friendly, efficient and durable materials that increase energy and water efficiency, improve indoor air quality, and reduce maintenance costs. The installation of a low-flow toilet and ENERGY STAR rated appliances, landscaping with native plants, and painting with an eco-friendly product are just a few of the ways The Home Depot is going to help this Atlanta homeowner go green.

"Rebuilding Together- Atlanta is committed to making an impact on the city's housing needs, and we are approaching it community by community," said Jan Jordan, Executive Director. "We've found that when you strengthen a community, you strengthen the life source of every home in it. We're excited to be partnering with the Home Depot on this project and working in such a historically significant area - English Avenue and Vine City."
