/24-7PressRelease/ -- The first "Global Comedy Festival in History" will return to its roots this year take place entirely in NYC. The 6th Annual New York Underground Comedy Festival (www.nycundergroundcomedyfestival.com) starts October 3rd and ends on the 12th. It will feature over 50 comedy-related events from stand up comedy showcases to writing / comedy workshops. Show venues include: Gotham Comedy Club, HA!, Comix, Broadway Comedy Club, and the Laugh Lounge.
"Spectators are going to notice a drastic change in the quality of the shows. It's a much more competitive festival this year with the highest industry to talent ratio we've ever had," said Producer, Jim Mendrinos. "This is the festival where fate and destiny meet to launch the careers of tomorrow's biggest names in comedy."
With so many shows to choose from, audiences will have a buffet of stand up comedy events to choose from. This year's NYUCF shows include: David Letterman Auditions, Headblade Comedy Tour, Harlem on Broadway, Emerging Comics Competition, Master Stand-Up Series, New York's Funniest Reporter, A Tight Five, Politics as Usual, the Comedy Pajama Party Show, and much more.
Festival comedians this year include: Adam Ferrara (FX's "Rescue Me"), Robert Kelly (HBO's "Tourgasm"), Rick Overton (Emmy Award Winning Head Writer For HBO's "The Dennis Miller Show"),Kira Soltonovich (NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno ), Alonzo Bowden (NBC's Last Comic Standing), Eddie Brill (CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman"), John Henton (Fox's "Living Single"), Jim Mendrinos (Comedy Central and author of "An Idiots Guide to Comedy Writing), Carole Montgommery (Comedy Central's Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn), Taylor Mason (HBO, The Gospel Channell), Leighann Lord (Comedy Central's Premium Blend), Vinnie Brand (Fox's RedEye), Vanessa Hollingshead (Comedy Central & World Tour), and over 100 additional top comedians.
