The Maine Diner Featured on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives Show

Premiere party at Vinny's East Coast Grille August 9 to showcase the Route 1 restaurant's segment on Food Network's popular national TV show.

WELLS, ME, August 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Maine Diner, an award-winning family-owned restaurant on Route 1 known for its hallmark hospitality, speedy service and hearty home-cooking, will be featured in an upcoming segment of the Food Network's popular TV series "Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives", which will be aired locally in a gala red carpet celebration on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Vinny's East Coast Grille on Route 1 in Ogunquit starting at 9 p.m.

The Maine Diner was selected from a national pool of celebrated eateries to star in an episode entitled "Old Time Attitude," which is scheduled to air on the Food Network at 10 p.m. EST / 9 p.m.CST on August 9. The Food Network's production crew and host Guy Fieri filmed the segment on location around Memorial Day. Producers note airing schedules often change. Interested viewers should check the Food Network website at www.foodnetwork.com as this date nears to confirm.

"This is such an incredible honor for our entire Maine Diner family after decades of commitment and hard work. Words cannot describe how thrilled we are to have our story broadcasted to the rest of the country," Myles Henry, who co-owns the diner with his brother Dick, said. "We can't contain our excitement which is why we are celebrating this event in a big way locally. We want to share this achievement with the community that has supported us over the years!"

The Henrys are partnering with friend and fellow restaurateur Vinny LoBello of Vinny's East Coast Grille, who has agreed to hold the celebration and viewing at his restaurant in Ogunquit. People can begin arriving at 9 p.m. prior to the show which airs at 10 p.m. The Henrys say they believe the Maine Diner will be in the third and last segment of the 30 minute episode. Big screen TVs, red carpet, lights, action and cameras will all be part of the fun.

Henry says he has always been a die-hard fan of the show and loves how the show highlights unique, independent operations that reflect distinctive regional cuisines. The Maine Diner itself pulls from its flavorful family recipes and coastal New England roots to feature many seafood-inspired classics like their seafood chowder.

"To be chosen as a top pick and included in that elite group of restaurants from around in the country is deeply satisfying to our family and staff who have all worked so hard to make this happen," Henry said.
