Yoga instructors Ruthann Zentner and Leah Morgan are set to open The Zen Zone, a yoga program for Kansas and Missouri children of all ages, January 7th, 2008. The Zen Zone brings yoga to kids through their studio location, at 413 NW Murray Road in Lee's Summit, MO as well as schools, summer camps, daycares, sports teams and special needs programs.
Yoga, a centuries-old practice of calming the mind and strengthening the body, is an ideal activity for children of all fitness and activity levels. The benefits of practicing yoga include decreased stress, increased self-confidence, flexibility, muscle strength, agility, hand-eye coordination and well-being, and improved concentration, focus and attention.

Yoga increases core strength and flexibility, which can enhance athletic performance and decrease the risk of sports-related injuries.

According to first grader Shay Morgan, "Yoga with my mom is really fun. I like the animal poses and sounds the best, but sometimes I need to show my mom the right way to do it!"
