/24-7PressRelease/ - LEE'S SUMMIT, MO, December 25, 2007 - Yoga for children is finally becoming mainstream in America. Millions of Americans that enjoy myriad benefits of their own yoga practice are now able to offer these same benefits to their children. Yoga instructors Ruthann Zentner and Leah Morgan are set to open The Zen Zone, a yoga program for Kansas and Missouri children of all ages, January 7th, 2008. The Zen Zone brings yoga to kids through their studio location, at 413 NW Murray Road in Lee's Summit, MO as well as schools, summer camps, daycares, sports teams and special needs programs.

Yoga, a centuries-old practice of calming the mind and strengthening the body, is an ideal activity for children of all fitness and activity levels. The benefits of practicing yoga include decreased stress, increased self-confidence, flexibility, muscle strength, agility, hand-eye coordination and well-being, and improved concentration, focus and attention.

One of the best features of yoga is that any child, regardless of size or shape can do it! It is a wonderful non-competitive activity for any child. Even athletic kids can benefit from the practice. Yoga increases core strength and flexibility, which can enhance athletic performance and decrease the risk of sports-related injuries.

Ruthann says "I began practicing yoga as an alternative to more punishing forms of exercise and quickly discovered there was more to yoga than mere physical exercise. While the asanas are a wonderful way to stay fit, yoga embraces much more. Practicing offers the ability to nurture and heal physically, mentally and spiritually. I understand the true benefits that yoga can offer. As a wife and a mother of three darling girls, I can appreciate how it has enhanced all our lives."

According to first grader Shay Morgan, "Yoga with my mom is really fun. I like the animal poses and sounds the best, but sometimes I need to show my mom the right way to do it!"

The Zen Zone opens for business January 7th, 2008 and will have a Grand Opening Winter Carnival and Open House on Saturday, January 12th from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. at 413 NW Murray Road, Lee's Summit, MO. 64081.
