TAMPA, FL, May 05, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Nissan is on a roll. The automaker's cargo van is popping up all over the map. It's already an MPV in Europe, and it's suited up in yellow as a taxicab in New York City. (1) In London, the NV200 is dressed in black, with a vintage-style front end. (2) Now, Nissan is introducing yet another twist to the commercial van lineup: the all-electric Nissan e-NV200. (3)
Introduced as a concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, (1) the e-NV200 is a working vehicle best suited for the everyday routine. The target audiences are small businesses and delivery services. Consumers interested in testing the new vehicle when it comes out can contact their Tampa dealerships
Inspired by the Nissan Leaf, the e-NV200 is the second battery-powered electric vehicle to be offered by the manufacturer. The company decided to create an electric version of the gasoline-powered van, while also combining the cargo capacity of the original NV200. (1)
Under the hood of this new electric utility vehicle is the same 24kWh lithium-ion battery as the Nissan Leaf, though made to fit the e-NV200. In terms of battery lifespan, the van can be recharged overnight with a 16-amp single-phase 3.3 kW supply, or a 6.6 kW, 32-amp one. The automaker is also offering a standard CHAdeMO DC 50kW quick charge, said to manage 80 percent in 30 minutes. (3)
Since the concept's introduction, Nissan has been testing the electric van in Europe and Japan. (1) Consumers interested in getting their hands on the new Nissan e-NV200 will have to wait until June, where a regular commercial or 5-passenger version will be available.
