/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center of Bucks County, a globally recognized leader in translational research, has named Ethan Byler as the Director of Biotechnology Development. His activities include new business development, technology transfer, coordination of Keystone Innovation Zone activities, and working with the Regional Biotechnology Council.
According to James Horan, Chief Operating Officer of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center, "We are extremely pleased that Ethan has joined the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center team as our Director of Biotechnology Development and Keystone Innovation Zone ("KIZ") Coordinator. With his broad range of experience in economic development, industry expertise and working in an entrepreneurial environment, Ethan is the perfect match for helping us build and maintain our KIZ platform and infrastructure."
Byler joins the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center from New Economy Strategies, a consulting company focused on technology-based economic development in Washington, DC. His activities there included: management of regional innovation and growth projects; initiatives focusing on capital formation and entrepreneurship; rural economic development and the design of government led interventions in technology; and innovation-based economic development. Byler has worked on strategies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New Mexico, Alabama, Kentucky, Connecticut, Utah, North Carolina, Michigan and Colorado, and a number of advanced technical assistance engagements to the U.S. Department of Labor's Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development program.
His experience also includes Innovation Philadelphia where he was an Analyst with Federal Funding Programs. Byler provided technical support on grant applications, business plans, and the presentation materials of early-stage companies attempting to secure financing through private investment or Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants.
"With his breadth of community and economic development experience and his biotechnology industry knowledge, Ethan will be a tremendous asset to our organization as we continue to grow the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center," said Horan.
Byler, a Doylestown resident, holds a Masters Degree in Government Administration from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of Charleston.
