The Pulse Podcasts Reach 5,700 Subscriber Milestone for its Family of Capital & Municipal Market Podcasts

The Pulse Podcasts, which include MuniMarket Pulse, CapitalMarket Pulse and MMA MuniCast, have over 5,700 listeners across the financial industry, from issuers to investors. These are the most listened-to independent podcasts on the Internet today.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, March 24, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Pulse, a leading family of podcasts that cover the municipal and capital markets, has recently reached a significant milestone of over 5,700 subscribers. Launched in November, 2007, it has become the largest podcast series of its kind with more than 160 recorded episodes on topics ranging from economic trends, municipal bonds, derivatives, Chapter 9 bankruptcies, students loans, public private partnerships, to Build America Bonds and other relevant topics.

According to MuniMarket Pulse producer Cynthia Heneage, "We are very excited by the growth in our listenership. More and more industry participants are tuning in to find that our audio interviews are a great place to hear about current topics in the municipal and capital markets."

The original podcast, MuniMarket Pulse, was started because no audio podcast focused on the municipal markets existed.. At the time of its launch, large media outlets like Business Week, Fortune, Forbes and Bloomberg provided plenty of financial industry information, but only a small amount of it was municipal market news. There were some industry-specific publications like The Bond Buyer, but no place to find timely interviews on the municipal industry. "We thought that MuniMarket Pulse could fill a niche that larger financial news outlets weren't covering, particularly in audio format," said Heneage.

MuniMarket Pulse has featured some of the leading voices in public finance like T. J. Marta, Guy LeBas, Jim Spiotto, Chris Mier, Tom Doe, and Matt Fabian. Interviewees comment on bond market performance, economic trends, regulatory oversight, credit issues, and other relevant topics, and they offer insights on topics that affect both investors and professionals in the industry.

In the last year, CapitalMarket Pulse, a podcast focused on the broader capital markets, and MMA MuniCast, a joint-venture with Municipal Market Advisors (MMA), a Boston-based strategy, research and advisory firm to the municipal bond industry, were both launched to expanding the Pulse Podcast offerings to a wider audience. By partnering with organizations that have unique perspectives on the markets, listener can stay connected to the industry.

"Our MuniCast podcast is consistent with our firm's mission to encourage thoughtful dialogue on the issues and dynamics of the municipal bond industry. DerivActiv's shared interest and commitment to the podcast have resulted in a broader reach to market participants, only making the market better," stated Tom Doe, CEO of Municipal Market Advisors.
