MANCHESTER, NH, July 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Guest host Dr. Mark Green, of "One Hour At A Time" on VoiceAmerica's Health & Wellness Channel will be interviewing certified brain injury specialist and musician Jerry Burton. Jerry Burton is a certified brain injury specialist who has been in the human services field for 30 years, divided almost equally between MH/MR and TBI. He currently serves as director of Development for Whitemarsh House, a personal care facility located in Flourtown, Pa. Prior to coming to Whitemarsh House, Jerry served for 10 years as administrator and residential manager at Success at Rockridge, a TBI facility located in Quakertown, Pa, where he established "Rockridge Live", the annual music event for clients, their families and friends. It enjoys 100% participation and clients work on their routines all year through their music therapy program. Think American Idol with no losers. Jerry maintains that it could be only done through the universality of music. A similar program is in the works for Whitemarsh House. You see, Jerry is also a musician, composer, performer, and record producer, having worked with some of the biggest names in show business. He studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston and at the proverbial "School of Hard Knocks'. His latest work is "SIDEWAYS", a CD by Bishop Clay, a Pittsburgh area group.

Besides utilizing music in brain injury, Jerry's other area of interest includes the rate of TBI/PTSD in returning veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars."We're talking huge numbers here and we have a moral obligation to see them through, says Jerry. Approximately 360,000 of these veterans, some 20%, suffer from some form of TBI, PTSD, or both. We're looking to do more work in this area".

Jerry and Lawrence Anastasi, the executive director at Whitemarsh House, are currently putting into place a TBI program there, which has historically been an MH/MR personal care facility. They next hope to establish a speciality working with TBI/PTSD veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in addition to the aforementioned TBI and Music Program. Jerry's next music venture is writing the music score to the audio version of Raina Sloan's book, "A Closer Walk; Journey To The Light".
