/24-7PressRelease/ - MANILA, PHILIPPINES, January 23, 2007 - The Department of Energy (DOE) pays tribute to the exceptional contributions of business establishments in energy conservation with its Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards (DEAEEA). And for the 5th consecutive year, The Richmonde Hotel, already a Hall of Fame awardee in 2004, has been granted yet again the Outstanding Award for achieving 8.6% energy savings or 129,997 liters of oil equivalent (LOE) last year.
Spearheaded by Richmonde Hotel's Chief Engineer Rogelio D. Lampa, the successful implementation of various innovative energy efficiency and conservation measures last year resulted in the significant reduction of the hotel's total electrical consumption and operational expenses. The DEAEEA likewise commended the hotel's cost-saving programs for being beneficial not only to the company, but also to the country's efforts for attaining sustainable development. Furthermore, in recognition of Engr. Lampa's continuing initiatives, the Technical Evaluation Committee of the DEAEEA duly honored him with an Outstanding Energy Manager Award.
