Currently, Barnhart is in second place in the "Up Yours" online contest hosted by The World Famous Improv nationwide comedy club. At the end of the competition on March 1, the three most-voted-for comics will go to Las Vegas to perform at the Improv in Harrah's. The overall winner will receive 25k in paid gigs and will get to meet with an agent from APA Talent Agency.
Barnhart is determined to win and he is working out his material every week up to the finals. Prior to the contest, Barnhart is set to perform in Las Vegas at Sin City Comedy Club and The Riviera Comedy as well as headlining on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
The comedian also stars in new film, Finding The Funny exploring the topic whether or not you can teach someone to be funny. The film follows Barnhart as he teaches both the art and business of stand up comedy at his studios in Las Vegas exploring the long debated topic whether or not you can actually teach someone to be funny.
The film is directed by John Bizarre and features interviews with famous and not so famous comedians including Brad Garrett, Louie Anderson, Rondell Sheridan, Marty Allen, Andy Kindler and Wendy Liebman.
Barnhart continues to teach both stand up comedy and improv at the Don Barnhart Studios in Las Vegas and just finished the final draft of a new comedy film, Freeloader. It's the story of a returning Vet who ends up living on the streets and becomes the Robin Hood of the homeless.
