Journalist and native of the "meat country" Brazil, Fernanda Capobianco previously managed and owned The Payard Restaurant and Pastry shops in Rio de Janeiro. There, Fernanda developed unique recipes for delicious desserts free of eggs and sugar. Fernanda opted to use healthier all-natural organic & fresh ingredients: Exotic fruits such as passion fruit, acai, and cupuacu. Soon Fernanda expanded her menu, adding hearty and healthy all-vegan sandwiches.
In 2010 Capobianco founded Vegan Divas
, an upscale vegan, animal-free, cholesterol-free, organic, kosher, parve, and low-calorie line of baked goods and desserts. She had a clear goal from the beginning: "It has been my dream to create gourmet pastries with the quality, taste and presentation similar to those offered by the best gourmet bakeries but as healthier option to traditional baked goods," she said.
In summer 2012 the Vegan Divas
flagship store opened on New York's Upper East Side.
