/24-7PressRelease/ - NEW YORK, NY, September 09, 2008 - On the heels of their successful creative partnership on a co branded spot for Comedy Central and Dominos Pizza, editor Lee Gurevich of thePound , audio post house SoundHounds recently launched editorial division, has teamed again with Comedy Central director/producer Dexter Morris on a series of hilarious co branded minute long interstitials for KFC and Comedy Central's show Friday Night Stand Up.
In parody form, the setting is a mock cooking/reality show called Will It Toast? in which the cheery host starts out upbeat but slowly downward spirals into an on-camera breakdown. In one spot he describes how his wife cheated on him on their honeymoon with a cruise ship fitness instructor, and begins toasting all their wedding gifts and photos. Another features him toasting his brother's new novel My Brother, My Burden, lamenting his successful writer/brother while he toils in late night obscurity, a failed actor out of Julliard.
The challenge for me was centered on storytelling and simply finding the best moments from the actor and putting them together in way that made it even funnier, said Gurevich. Everything was there for me, it was just matter of finding the story rhythm. Because the pieces were shot in a studio set we spent some time making sure all of the comedic notes matched, particularly with camera angles, performance and energy.
For Morris, he and Lee enjoy a great creative relationship. Lee is the type of editor I love to work with because he brings way more to the table than just his editing skills, Morris said. Lee would always offer up suggestions to make the work flow better, potential music beds that would fit the spots nicely, ways to cut the pieces down to time without losing the best jokes. There is no doubt his input helped make the spots a lot stronger. All the music suggestions Lee made during the edit enhanced the work further. He also added studio audience reactions and other sound design to help the spots flow. Lees creative input was very valuable to the project.
