There's a Monopoly in DFW! DFWOPOLY!

As part of a new fundraiser, Mission Bridges has created DFWOPOLY. It is a Monopoly-like game featuring businesses throughout the DFW Metroplex.

ARLINGTON, TX, May 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- DFWOPOLY is a Monopoly inspired board game, with a twist. Each of the 48 spaces on the game board has a different DFW-based business on it. This will include businesses, hospitals, eateries, shops, attorneys, and more. CeeCee Evans, Executive Director of Mission Bridges, said the idea for the board game seemed an obvious fit, since we use the game Monopoly as part of our minority entrepreneur training program.

DFWOPOLY is a key fundraiser for Mission Bridges. Money collected from sales of the game is going toward our Minority Business Accelerator Training Program, and to directly support Mission Bridges other programs and services. Minorities dream of entrepreneurship yet "poverty of access" to development & financial services are key factors that prevent them from pursuing their dream. Minority business played a key role after the recent recession, adding 1.3 million jobs between 2007 & 2012. Yet the number of minority business lags far behind non-minority business.

Just 21 percent of all U.S. businesses are minority owned (races other than white), yet minorities represent 35 percent of the population. Mission Bridges provides free training, support and resources to veterans, women and minorities in North Texas to start and grow their businesses. Our mission is helping those who have operated outside the mainstream of business and economic opportunity to the challenges both financial and technical, to successful entrepreneurship

The costs of the spaces range from $350 for a normal property to $750 for a premium property. We have opportunities for a presenting sponsor of the game and a bank to sponsor the money. Mission Bridges is taking orders for the game through October 5, 2017, with delivery of the game December 8, 2017 just in time for the holidays. The game costs $25. Evans said the goal is for 1,500 board games to be sold. Evans said Mission Bridges is reaching out to all residents, past and present, to reach that goal. Mission Bridges is seeking businesses with brick-and-mortar locations interested in buying spots on the board and advertising on game cards and box top.

Evans hopes many families can use the game as a fun educational opportunity while getting familiar with some of the great businesses that make up DFW. "We're looking forward to families playing the game," she said. "That's what it's all about."
