This Week's TV: The Bill cops it!
After pounding the telly beat for 27 years The Bill ends this week and long-serving Simon Rouse tells TV Choice the axe came as no surprise.

LONDON, ENGLAND, August 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- 'I expected it,' admits Simon, who first appeared as no nonsense Superintendent Jack Meadows in 1990. A later time slot, together with grittier stories shot in high definition, failed to attract more viewers, and so the show bows out in a two-part story involving a gang-related murder.
'I had a speech about respect. I was talking as Meadows being proud of his team, and it all got a bit blurred,' adds Simon Rouse. 'I became very conscious of all the good work that has gone into the show over the years.'

Also in this week's TV Choice, Amanda Burton takes charge as new headteacher Karen Fisher in Waterloo Road, and Julia McKenzie returns as Agatha Christie's amateur sleuth Miss Marple. Simon Bird of The Inbetweeners fame stars in a new celebrity panel show The King Is Dead, and Alexander Armstrong hosts Pointless, the quiz show where the aim is to score the least amount of points. Also, Wunmi Mosaku plays a young woman caught in the horror of modern day slavery in the bank holiday drama I Am Slave.

In the soaps, Stacey learns the truth about Becca in EastEnders, and Mary sabotages Hayley's big day in Coronation Street. Maisie is convinced the police have the wrong man for her dad's murder in Emmerdale, while Steph tells Gilly her condition is terminal in Hollyoaks. Pregnant Steph's feeling guilty over Dan in Neighbours, and Julia's health deteriorates in Doctors.

There is also a Milan shopping break for two, along with GBP500 spending money, to be won in this week's fantastic TV Choice competition.
