/24-7PressRelease/ -- Thom Bierdz, best known for playing Phillip Chancellor III on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless," has returned to the show after 20 years.
In a recent interview with TheCelebrityCafe.com, Bierdz talks about his art, coping with the murder of his mother, and how he relates to his "Restless" character.
"I came back as a gay character and I am gay in real life," Bierdz said. "That's just the biggest place where I can relate."
Bierdz's role as Phillip Chancellor III was a popular fan favorite in the late 80s. He was excited to come back to the role and connect with his character more than ever.
Not limiting himself to acting, Bierdz has made a name for himself as an artist, even being named the "next Andy Warhol" by IN Magazine.
"I'm coming from a place where I don't think my stuff is good or bad; it's the composition that works for me," Bierdz said. "There are some many styles. So who knows if I'll be the next Warhol. I think I am a kindred spirit."
Bierdz understandably had things to sort out after his brother murdered their mother. He exercised some demons writing his memoir "Forgiving Troy."
"It was the hardest thing that I've ever done," Bierdz said. "I felt that I had to write it because what had happen was so incredible that it was bigger than life and I thought that people were not going to believe this."
The actor looks forward to continuing his role on "The Young And The Restless" airing daily at 12:30 pm ET on CBS.
