We have activities throughout October, which is National Depression Month, as we're committed to spreading the word on depression and helping people find treatment to relieve their symptoms.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 05, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TMS Health Solutions has planned a company-wide commemoration of Depression Screening Day today. "We have activities throughout October, which is National Depression Month, as we're committed to spreading the word on depression and helping people find treatment to relieve their symptoms. Depression Screening is a vital step in recognizing depression and tracking patient progress towards recovery," said TMS Health Solutions Chief Medical Officer, Richard Bermudes, MD.
Every patient treated today, Thursday, October 5th, will receive a small giveaway in salutation to the PHQ-9, TMS Health Solutions' screening questionnaire used for both patient measures and online with people who may question if they are experiencing clinical depression.
Google too has recognized depression and helped fuel accessibility to the PHQ-9. They recently placed the depression screening quiz as a direct link when one searches for depression on mobile. This should help people identify their potential depression symptoms earlier and keep treatment. "With our full, seven clinic focus on depression, that Google too has recognized the importance of depression identification is really encouraging," said Brad Hummel, CEO, TMS Health Solutions.
While Depression Screening Day will certainly be a tent-pole day in the National Depression Month observation, TMS Health Solutions has a variety of other activities and communication planned. On the website homepage, there is a burst of acknowledgment for National Depression Month and a link directly to an easily sharable packet on frequently asked questions about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), the fastest growing treatment for depression, as well the PHQ-9 and information on insurance coverage for treatment. TMS Health Solutions will also be posting daily on social media with articles and other content around recognizing depression in others, inspiring stories of people who have overcome clinical depression, and why Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an innovative treatment statistically shown to have strong results for patients where traditional depression treatments may not have worked.
"All of our employees, from front desk to billing to physicians to technicians, have dedicated our lives to research, education, and treating those with mental health conditions. October is a great month to turn up the volume on recognizing and treating depression," said Hummel.
About Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy:

By using a MRI-strength magnetic field to stimulate the prefrontal cortex of the brain, the core symptoms of major depression can be relieved. Unlike antidepressants or Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), patients undergoing TMS therapy experience minimal side effects.
